“A first-person account of the Southern Adventures zipline at Kanvangeri near Abbey Falls: the price, the ten-minute briefing, the valley below, and why I'd pay it again.”
Ziplining between hills, with greenery everywhere and a valley below you: that is what about ₹500 bought me near Abbey Falls on 30 August 2025.
The basics
| Detail | What I noted |
|---|---|
| Operator | Southern Adventures |
| Place | Kanvangeri, near Abbey Falls, Madikeri, Coorg |
| Cost | Around ₹500 per person (paid on 30 August 2025; check the current price) |
| Hours | Daily, 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM (as I noted them; confirm before you go) |
| Length of the line | Approximately 600 metres |
| Safety briefing | About 10 minutes |
The operator is listed on Justdial as “Karnataka’s Longest Zipline in Kanvangeri, Coorg”. That is the operator’s own marketing claim, and I have not verified it against any independent record, so read it as a claim and not a fact. The 600-metre figure is my own note; I could not confirm it from an official page, and another Madikeri listing I found quotes a different operator’s line in feet, so check units before you compare.
The ride
The safety briefing took about ten minutes.
What you see on the way is the point: greenery everywhere and a valley below. It is the monsoon season in Coorg in late August: June to September is the wet stretch of the year there, and the hills are at their greenest. Abbey Falls itself, a few minutes away, is described by Veena World as best from July to October, when it is full. I did not note the ride’s height or duration, so I will not guess either.
What it costs, and what it’s worth
Around ₹500 for a line that runs about 600 metres is good value by any comparison I can make from my own experience. For a cheaper adventure comparison within my own posts, see my skydiving post; this is a different scale and price entirely.
Who should do it
Based on the low price and the ten-minute briefing, it looks like a good first adventure activity. I did not check age and weight limits. Karnataka Tourism’s general page on Coorg ziplines says courses typically accept ages 10 and above with a weight limit of about 100 to 110 kg, but that is a general statement, not this operator’s rule, so call ahead.
My verdict
100% worth it. For this price, with a view like that, I would do it again without thinking. If you are already driving to Abbey Falls, add the zipline. Go in the monsoon if you want the valley green and the falls full; go after October if you would rather avoid the rain, since Karnataka Tourism lists October to May as the best time overall.
Before you go
- Confirm timings and price with the operator; mine are from 30 August 2025.
- Ask about age and weight limits.
- Pair it with Abbey Falls and read my weekend in Coorg for the rest of the area.
